More Body Work

The stainless panels have a lot of small surface nicks in them, so I'll be giving the entire car a once-over with the texturing tool. Since I'll also be converting the early-style locks to the late-style one-key system, now is the time to remove those locks and fix the stainless underneath. The door locks are another area where originality will be ignored - the early locks are bulky, ugly, and just don't work very well, which is why the factory switched to the new style lock mechanisms shortly after this car was made.

Side trim all removed.

Quarter panels aligned and tightened-down.

Removing the early-style locks leaves an unsightly scratch that requires removal, since the late-style locks are smaller and won't cover this up.

All better now.

Post-regraining: mirrors and side trim panels back on.
